Re-Parole Process Extension for Ukrainian Citizens: How Our Firm Can Assist

In response to the ongoing crisis in Ukraine, the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) has announced an extension of the re-parole process for certain Ukrainian citizens and their immediate family members. Effective February 27, 2024, applications for re-parole will be accepted and considered on a case-by-case basis under section 212(d)(5)(A) of the Immigration and Nationality Act.

To be eligible for re-parole under this process, applicants must meet specific criteria, including:

  1. Being a Ukrainian citizen or immediate family member who was paroled into the United States on or after February 11, 2022.
  2. Demonstrating continued urgent humanitarian reasons or significant public benefit for a new period of parole, along with any additional factors.
  3. Warranting a favorable exercise of discretion.
  4. Being physically present in the United States.
  5. Complying with the conditions of the initial parole.
  6. Clearing biographic and biometric background checks.

Applicants can submit Form I-131, Application for Travel Document, along with supporting documentation and the appropriate filing fee or fee waiver request. The form can be submitted online through a USCIS Online Account or on paper by mail.
